Supplying sustainably through stewardship

"Supplying sustainably through stewardship" examines the crucial role played by the Australian and global plant science industry in ensuring the security of the world’s food supply and ongoing economic viability.

The publication also explores how stewardship practices help farmers supply sustainably, and also discusses the barriers to innovation and the need to use crop protection and biotechnology products responsibly.

The publication highlights several key issues, including:

 - The lifecycle approach to stewardship:  CropLife Australia is committed to promoting effective stewardship in and away from the field, and believes that the appropriate management and use of our members’ products helps underpin sustainable agriculture, and safeguards the environment and public health.

 - CropLife helps farmers act as responsible stewards through a number of affiliated programs including drumMUSTER and ChemClear®

 - Food production levels need to double to sustainably feed the world’s population, which is expected to grow to 9 billion by 2050.
