CropLife remains a strong national voice for the Australian plant science industry and a credible and legitimate force in shaping the regulatory and policy environment within which our members operate. Our Annual Review 2009 highlights our achievements against the priority outcomes of our 2008/09 Business Plan.
CropLife’s efforts over the past year have again positioned it well to effectively deal with the emerging issues of our industry.
The year ahead will be no less challenging than that just gone and will see CropLife focus on the following priority outcomes:
Agricultural Innovation – Australian farmers are well known for their ingenuity and use of innovative tools to overcome challenges. Such agricultural innovation is needed today to meet the combined challenges of climate change, the global recession and food security. New crops, new pesticides and new pesticide uses are needed so farmers can continue to produce plentiful, affordable and nutritious food while battling pests, plant diseases and climatic conditions. Dismantling barriers to agricultural innovation will be our challenge in the year ahead.
Responsible Use – our challenge, to promote the responsible use and stewardship of pesticides while maintaining access for appropriate uses.
Grow market acceptance for OGTR-approved crops – we will continue to work towards raising CropLife’s profile in crop biotechnology discussions, towards increasing stakeholder confidence in our position in order to drive market access, and towards minimising the future potential for legislative barriers to commercialisation at the state level.
